The American Bar Association awarded its 2026 International Human Rights Award to Tunisian lawyer Ayachi Hammami at a ceremony in London on 25 September, honouring his decades defending political detainees, journalists and trade unionists since the Ben Ali era. Hammami has been held since 2 December 2025 and is serving a five-year sentence in the 'conspiracy against state security' case, the same case in which he was moved to Monastir prison last week after a hunger strike.

Tunisia imported 429,376 tonnes of Azerbaijani crude oil worth $266.3 million between January and August 2026, according to Azerbaijan's customs data, 2.3 times the volume and 2.6 times the value of the same period last year. SOCAR Trading named Tunisia one of the main buyers of Azerbaijani crude on 25 September, saying the company is also among the main suppliers to a Tunisian refinery.

Tunisia has exported 150,000 tonnes of dates worth more than 1 billion dinars this season, a first, said Kaïsar Ben Arfa, director of the date-sector professional grouping GID (Groupement interprofessionnel des dattes), on Express FM, after a record harvest of about 400,000 tonnes, four-fifths of it Deglet Nour. The dates went to roughly 94 countries, with European markets taking about 40 percent.
