Investigating judges send 11 to trial over teenager's killing, anti-white racism ruled an aggravating factor

Investigating judges have referred eleven young men to trial for the November 2023 killing of 16-year-old Thomas Perotto in the village of Crépol, ruling that racist statements against "the white race and the French nation" count as an aggravating circumstance. Prosecutors in Valence had twice rejected that reading, calling the evidence too thin to pin on named suspects; the trial itself is not expected before autumn 2027.
