Jailed human rights lawyer Ayachi Hammami wins American Bar Association prize

The American Bar Association awarded its 2026 International Human Rights Award to Tunisian lawyer Ayachi Hammami at a ceremony in London on 25 September, honouring his decades defending political detainees, journalists and trade unionists since the Ben Ali era. Hammami has been held since 2 December 2025 and is serving a five-year sentence in the 'conspiracy against state security' case, the same case in which he was moved to Monastir prison last week after a hunger strike.
