Tunisia's Treasury bonds outstanding hit 37.23 billion dinars, up 18%

The volume of Tunisian Treasury bonds in circulation reached 37.23 billion dinars on October 1, up 5.69 billion, or 18.1 percent, over the year, according to central bank (BCT) figures. The long end, assimilable Treasury bonds, rose 24.7 percent to 35.5 billion dinars, while short-term bills fell 44.1 percent to 1.69 billion; the 2026 finance law earmarks 19 billion dinars for domestic borrowing. Such a sharp rise in state borrowing risks crowding out private lending, making financing more expensive for Tunisian businesses and households.
