Lawyer Ayachi Hammami moved to Monastir prison after hunger strike

The defence committee for detainees in Tunisia's 'conspiracy against state security' case says prison authorities transferred lawyer and opposition figure Ayachi Hammami from Mornaguia to Monastir prison on 24 September, days after he began a hunger strike in solidarity with fellow detainee Wael Naouar. The committee called the move 'an act of repression and abusive isolation' and said it adds to the cost and difficulty of family visits, according to Kapitalis and Business News. Hammami is one of dozens of opposition figures, activists and businesspeople charged in the 'conspiracy against state security' case.
