Saied makes an unannounced evening visit to the pollution front at Gabès

The president went to the Chott Essalem area of Gabès on Monday evening to see the state of the beach beside the point where phosphogypsum is discharged into the sea. He said the environmental situation has to be handled by treating the sources of pollution and putting an end to their consequences, through urgent and effective solutions alongside work on the structural problems over the longer term. He had tasked a working group with the Gabès file and received its final report and recommendations in January.
