France's third weekend of protests draws smaller crowds amid curfews

Around 320,000 people marched nationwide on Saturday, down from 410,000 the previous weekend and 550,000 in mid-October, as France entered its third consecutive weekend of demonstrations over living costs, education and now rearmament spending. Police reported clashes in Lyon, Paris and Marseille despite a heavy security deployment of 70,000 officers and night curfews in central Paris.
