Spain's transport minister resigns after train crash that killed 69

Óscar Puente stepped down on Tuesday after revealing that a safety system on the Madrid-Seville line had failed before an AVE train collided with a stopped Iryo train near Toledo. He called the resignation "an act of political responsibility" and said he would not seek re-election; it was Spain's second fatal crash on the line in nine months.
