Belgian PM offers resignation to king as budget talks collapse

Bart De Wever presented his government's resignation to King Philippe on Monday after the five coalition parties failed to agree on about 7.7 billion euros in savings through 2029. The king deferred his decision and will meet each party leader this week before seeing De Wever again on Friday. The Palace called for a "spirit of compromise" given the country's economic and geopolitical pressures.
