Opposition figure Riadh Ben Fadhel sentenced to 20 years in financial case

A Tunis court sentenced businessman and Al-Qotb party coordinator Riadh Ben Fadhel to 20 years in prison on money laundering and corruption charges tied to the management of confiscated assets; eighteen co-defendants received nine-year terms. Ben Fadhel has been held since November 2023. His party called the verdict unjust and sealed in advance, saying his defence team found no serious evidence and pointed to repeated procedural irregularities.
