Thousands rally in Tel Aviv against Netanyahu ahead of October 27 election
Thousands gathered in Tel Aviv on October 24 for a rally organized by the October Council, a group founded by families of victims and hostages from Hamas's October 7, 2023, attack, ahead of the October 27 election widely seen as a referendum on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Opposition leader and former Israeli military chief Gadi Eisenkot attended to a warm reception; polls show a deadlock with neither bloc reaching a parliamentary majority. Israel has announced all West Bank crossings will close on election day after Palestinian gunfire killed two soldiers.
