Tunisia's olive harvest set to fall 30 to 40 percent this season, growers warn

Tunisia's 2026-2027 olive harvest is expected to fall 30 to 40 percent from last season, a representative of the Tunisian olive-growers' union said, with regional data pointing the same way: Sidi Bouzid expects about 350,000 tonnes against 500,000 last year, and Manouba about 14,000 tonnes against more than 20,750. Growers say lower output could push olive-oil prices higher depending on international markets and demand; a bacterial disease, olive tuberculosis, has also hit orchards in Mahdia and Sfax.
