India's Supreme Court demands answers after 130 million voters removed from rolls
On October 5, India's Supreme Court ordered the Election Commission to explain a revision that has deleted roughly 130 million names from voter rolls since 2025 and that the commission says targets fraud. Opposition Congress leaders say Muslim and minority communities have been disproportionately hit and accuse Prime Minister Modi's party of orchestrating the exercise, after days of protest.
