EU interior ministers agree faster deportations, tougher border enforcement
EU interior ministers and migration commissioner Magnus Brunner have approved plans for 'return hubs' in third countries, a standardised EU-wide deportation order and an expanded Frontex repatriation mandate, aiming to open the first hubs in 2027. Rights groups warn the detention centres risk violations and amount to outsourcing migration enforcement beyond EU legal oversight.
