Saudi-backed strikes on Yemeni market near Taiz kill dozens as war toll passes 800

Saudi-backed airstrikes hit a market on the outskirts of Taiz, southwest Yemen, early on Sunday, with Houthi officials giving death tolls ranging from seven to about thirty and total casualties, including wounded, put at near fifty. The Yemeni government side has not confirmed a toll and access to the site is contested. A World Health Organization report put total deaths in Yemen's war, reignited in July, at more than 800, including 809 new casualties recorded in the single week to 26 September.
