Spain's main farm groups unite to demand curbs on Tunisian olive oil imports

Spain's four largest agricultural organisations, ASAJA, COAG, UPA and Cooperativas Agro-alimentarias, jointly called on Madrid to tighten traceability controls on olive oil imports, targeting a customs regime that let Tunisian oil enter and be re-exported duty-free. The share of Tunisian oil imported under that regime rose from 61.6 percent of 2025's total to 76.3 percent between January and April this year, according to Spanish press figures. Andalusia has already asked Madrid to seek an EU suspension of the mechanism.
