Hungary's new government slashes EU defence-loan request by two-thirds
Brussels confirmed that Prime Minister Péter Magyar's government, in office since April, will take only 5.4 billion euros of the 16.4 billion euros originally allocated to Hungary under the EU's SAFE defence loan programme. Magyar had asked to reassess the deal over alleged corruption risks linked to the previous Orbán government.
