UK bans import of goods from Israeli West Bank settlements, Israel closes British consulate in Jerusalem

Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband told the House of Commons the UK would impose a full import ban on goods from Israeli settlements in the West Bank and sanction companies and individuals enabling settlement expansion, calling the occupation "unlawful". France and Canada are expected to impose their own import bans. Israel responded by closing the British consulate in Jerusalem, which has historically handled UK contacts with the Palestinian Authority.
