Von der Leyen pledges 200 million euros for Greenland as Trump pressure mounts

European Commission president Ursula von der Leyen announced a 200 million euro, two-year package for Greenland covering connectivity, clean energy, fisheries and education, during a visit to the capital Nuuk. She said the EU stood with Greenland, which is under “enormous pressure,” without naming Donald Trump, who has repeatedly said the US should take control of the Danish territory. Greenland is a self-governing Danish territory, and Denmark is an EU member, but Greenland itself is outside the union.
