Poultry federation warns 15-hour power cuts are pushing industry toward collapse

Salah Toumi of the National Poultry Federation says outages lasting up to 15 hours a day, combined with extreme heat, are suffocating birds and wrecking ventilation-dependent farms, since backup generators cannot keep up with the frequency of the cuts. “Breeders will not be able to sustain these repeated losses in coming seasons, risking the entire production chain,” he warned, adding that farmers already selling below cost have received no government support.
