Only 22 percent of Tunisia's treated wastewater is reused

Olfa Mahjoub, a researcher at the national institute for rural engineering, water and forestry, told national radio on Monday that the share does not exceed 22 percent, of which only about 4 percent goes to agriculture. The country produces roughly 300 million cubic metres of treated wastewater a year. The target for 2050 is more than 560 million cubic metres and reuse above 80 percent, which would require extended networks and clearer rules.
