Libya is putting optical and thermal cameras along 200 km of its border with Tunisia

Libya's border guard, under the interior ministry of the Tripoli-based Government of National Unity, says it is building a surveillance system of optical and thermal cameras along roughly 200 kilometres of the country's western border with Tunisia, starting in the Al-Assa sector in the north. The stated aims are round-the-clock observation, early detection of threats, and operations against smuggling, irregular migration and cross-border crime. The project is supported by the European Union Border Assistance Mission in Libya, Eubam.
